- Analog Code® component modeling, compatible with all major DAWs
The Transient Designer plug-in from SPL is based upon the original analog processor from SPL which is one of the most original concepts developed in pro audio in the past 2 decades. A studio classic around the world.
Only two controls allow to completely reshape the attack and sustain characteristics of a sound: Attack can be amplified or attenuated by up to 15dB while sustain can be amplified or attenuated by up to 24 dB. This Analog Code® plug-in is based upon the original analog Transient Designer from SPL which established the revolutionary concept for level-independent dynamic processing.
Working with the Transient Designer is very simple, however, the possibilities for studio and live application are seemingly endless.
Mode of Operation and Applications
Thanks to the level-independent processing the setting of a threshold is not necessary. Other common controls of dynamic processing, such as ratio or parameters for time-constants, are automated and optimized adaptively in a musical manner. After all, only two controls allow to completely reshape the attack and sustain characteristics of a sound. Attack can be amplified or attenuated by up to 15dB while sustain can be amplified or attenuated by up to 24 dB.Working with the Transient Designer is very simple, however, the possibilities for studio and live application are seemingly endless. Thus, in a very obvious and simple way, the Transient Designer opens a whole new dimension in dynamic processing with entirely new, stunning and vast possibilities for dynamic manipulation and processing that cannot even be duplicated with several daisy-chained, conventional compressors or other dynamics devices.
- SPL-modeled plug-in version of the original analog Transient Designer
- Increase or decrease the impact of percussive sources
- Reduces or increases room sound or preexisting reverb on virtually any source
- Great gate substitute, minimizes mic bleed in seconds
- An essential mix tool endorsed by the world’s finest professional engineers
The "Settings" feature allows to store four different sets of adjustments. Much faster than with the usual save and recall presets dialogs, the settings can be stored and recalled by just one click. The Settings A, B, C, D can be included into the automation of host applications to apply different sets of parameters to different parts of a song.
Mouse Wheel Control
All SPL Analog Code plug-ins support mouse wheel control for rotary controls and faders. Place the mouse cursor over a rotary control or fader and move the wheel or scroll ball of your mouse to adjust the control or fader. Hold the CTRL (Windows) or APPLE/COMMAND key while moving the wheel or scroll ball for fine adjustments with higher control resolution.
The Analog Code®
While SPL hardware products have been fascinating audio professionals from home studio owners to mastering engineers in the world’s most renowned facilities for years, the need for this technology in the form of plug-ins has also been an ever-growing demand. With the Analog Code® plug-ins we have finally accomplished our much desired goal: to transfer to the digital domain the high quality we have striven to achieve with our analog processors throughout several decades.
The first time we ever heard a software that fulfilled our expectations, one of our hardware developers said to the programmers: “you have cracked the Analog Code” — thus was coined the name of our digital products.
- SPL have produced several Transient Designer videos with some cool tricks for this plugin.
- You can and should try it on every signal
What can you say about the transient designer? When you know the the real thing - you’ll love it anyway. And then you’ll love the Plug-in as well because it sounds just like the original and you can have a designer on as many tracks as you like.
Definitely on drums! But If you wanna go creative -you can and should try it on every signal. When doing stem mastering with mediocre drums the transient designer is my first pick for a parallel group. And I use it both ways - to push the attack on drums - or to have an big, sustainé parallel group. It’s the fastest and easiest way to get sound on your tracks. -
