    I've had a handful of opportunities in my life to work on real SL 4000 E/G+ boards, but I haven't had the chance to experience the 9000. I didn't know what to expect when this plugin dropped, but it's become my all-around go-to channel strip (especially for pop/hip hop).
    It's less mid-forward to my ears than the E and G channels, and the low end is much cleaner. The compressor section feels totally different too; it engages much more readily and the auto-makeup is at little aggressive, so a little bit can go a long way depending on the source. Still sounds good when you smash it though.
    At first I thought "do I really need ANOTHER SSL channel strip?" And the answer is YES, yes I do. The bx_console series continues to impress the hell out of me.

    All models in the PA console series sound great and work well, with low cpu hit and the sonic character of the hardware versions, and this one adds another dimension to the collection. It sounds powerful and has more transparency than most, with a killer eq and dynamics section. As mentioned by a previous reviewer, if you want more dirt you can crank up the thd control.
    This is a solid sounding channel strip with it's own unique flavour - great depth and smooth top end.

    I first saw Michael's interview about the difference between the 4000 and the 9000 consoles. Then I compared both plugin concepts in standard mode with an already mixed song and it was amazing. The extra highs are fantastic, the more clear lows, too. When you start to use Michael's presets for the 9000 you really understand why it's a good idea to change ;-). Many thanks to Dirk's team. I'm using your plugins for years now and get happier from offer to offer.

    so I never really write reviews and although I own all of the other console models that they sell here I have never really felt that "wow" thing that so many reviewers seem to feel. I mean the lindell 80 and the ssl e console emulations are really cool but I never heard anything all that special that was game changing to me that I couldn't simply get with other standalone plugins....until now. I demoed this ssl J 9000 yesterday on an indie sounding mix (think folks and horses) and I just couldn't believe how gooey, warm, full and analog it sounded. This console emulation really does something special to the low end. I tried all of the other console channel strips on my kick in and out channels and nothing sounded as big, full and beefy as this 9000J strip. This plugin just seems to have "that" sound and I NEVER write reviews like this. If this is the wow factor that so many others get all the time from certain plugins then I can say I have finally found my "wow factor. Its funny because I watch reviewers putting an instance of a channel strip plugin across all of their channels, making a bunch of tweaks with the eq and compressor sections and then talking about how great the before and after is. Well honestly you can get that great before and after by eq'ing with any plugins and then turning them off but this was different. I could hear the difference in just putting the console J 9000 across the channels and changing the TMT variations and I mean really hear the difference! This plugin is an absolute marvel of what can be accomplished with emulations today and honestly I don't think they could have done a better job on this one. I have paid way more for certain pieces of outboard mixing gear that don't sound this good. Definitely demo this one and maybe just skip to buying it straight away!

    Ok I was using either the ssl E or Lindell 80 for the majority of my projects...now I love the 1073 sound; but I replaced it with the 9000 this morning..amazing sounding eq and warmth...just love it@

    Stop contemplating and get these plugins from Plugin Alliance. I have seen my music/mixes dramatically improve when I started using their products. There is no gimmick about their products, if you process it, the sound will come. End of discussion, make this move your best move!
