This is the best go tool for bringing punch and clarity to my mixes and sound in my mix. It is a must have tool in my tool bag.
The closest thing to magic...

I love saturation and I have a gazillion different plugins for it, so I don't say this lightly: for the mix or master bus, SA2RATE 2 is the closest thing to magic I have found so far in the realm of in-the-box saturation. It is so clean and lively at the same time with perfectly thought out controls. Of course you can go wild and distort the hell out of things with very satisfying results, but where this thing truly shines is in the subtleties. It sometimes takes my breath away what it can do to add that subtle warmth, increased presence, detail and just the right amount of organic grit to the sound of a track. Is there anything at all left to improve here? I haven't found anything so far. Thank you Looptrotter and Plugin Alliance for bringing this brilliance into the easily accessible digital format (of course, I'll keep dreaming of one day owning a piece of the hardware, but I'll be happy to tweak knobs on the screen until that day comes.)

hAV.2Rate.iT tHe Sa2.rAtiNG 11/10! Try it after your favoured tape emulation plug... & a little transient shaping for a plug after it to track audio thru... If that chain of plugs in series connection thru each other doesn't work first of, for balancing a better sound from to track something out from... Juggle the order of these 3 kinds of plugs & processing of each around between each other instead. U may need some eq low shelving or hp/lp eq filtering before the chain, possibly another eq to cut & notch out anything post processing, after the chain. But this plug, with a good tape emulation & a transient designer too... Should smooth over top end, energise the mid range & make it presence push forward more... But not harsher for doing so... & the transient designer/shaper plugs nowadays, are equally important & as useful... If not more or less generally as useful for being the new tool in the old channel strip chain of audio processing events... I'd prefer & use TD's for being in my Channel strip plugs on tracks... Than I need or find much use of the often over featured gate/expanders,.. 4 hogging up a decent amount of the ch strip UI space of them...

One of my absolute favorite Plugin Alliance additions ever. Really nice for glue, vibe and coloring your bus. You should have this in your toolbelt
I own the hardware

First time I heard about this emulation I was a bit skeptical about this. Then came the moment when I had some time to test the plugin against the hardware. I bought the plugin finally. It's not 1 to 1 in terms of sound, but very close. Close enough, plus added functionality. For me a bit less tricky than hardware to get the desired result - a bit of color and 2~3 db's of peak reduction on drums for example. Great job PA.

The subtle saturation I've been searching for. I love it on hi hats so much. Drum bus comes alive and you don't have to sacrifice the punchiness of the low end. Magic on the mix bus. Much more forgiving and pleasing to the ear for me than the tube emulations that come to mind.

In these days where plugins are really cheap, it's hard to justify 100 dollar for a plugin. But after demoing this unit I was sold. I Mix metal and use lot of the VSM and Elysia harmonics plugins, as well as the HG2MS. This guy is a winner on a master buss/ or drum buss. I didn't accept to much as this hardware unit isn't that expensive. But that just shows that price isn't a fair indicator for value that it can do to your mix. Absolutely love it.
