Plugin Alliance Maintenance Update 02.19

This free update includes bug fixes and improvements as well as compatibility with macOS 10.15 Catalina and the Windows 10 November 2019 Update for a big subset of Plugin Alliance products. You can find a detailed product list for this Maintenance Update below.

Please note that this update is the first to remove 32-bit builds for the affected products that will from now on be present in a 64-bit version only. Please check your system configuration before updating to make sure you are compatible. Don't worry, we've got you covered in all scenarios we could think of.

If you are not sure about your setup, you might like to read this article first to

make sure you are running your DAW in the correct environment.

With the release of the Maintenance Update 02.19, most of the Plugin Alliance plugins are 64-bit only. Before updating your products to this or newer builds of the included products, please make sure you are not running your DAW in 32-bit or in a 32-bit OS environment.

64-bit OS versions and 64-bit DAW versions are standard configurations on today's computer systems, whether it is on macOS or Windows, and it brings many advantages over the 32-bit architecture used before. However, there might be situations where 32-bit OS versions or 32-bit DAW versions are still present and used today.

As of the Maintenance Update 02.19, most of our software is switching to 64-bit only. To make sure you have a seamless transition and can benefit from the improvements brought with the Maintenance Update 02.19 and upcoming updates, we encourage you to make sure that you are ready for it. If you are not sure about your setup, see the below chart before updating your Plugin Alliance software after October 2019.

**How to determine if your DAW is 32-bit or 64-bit?

Avid Pro Tools

In general Pro Tools 11 and higher is 64-bit only.

With the end of the 32-bit support, Pro Tools 10 native or Pro Tools 10 HD systems will not be supported anymore.

Steinberg Cubase

Cubase 9 or higher is 64-bit only.

Cubase 8.5 or lower,

WIN

Open Cubase.
Choose Help> About Cubase.
In the window that appears, next to the software version and build information, it will state whether it is a 64-bit or 32-bit installation.

MAC

With Cubase closed, go to the Applications folder and click once on the Cubase application to select it.
Next, choose File> Get Info
In the window that opens - near the bottom of the General section - if there is a checkbox that says Open in 32-bit mode, then the installed version of Cubase can be run in either 32-bit or 64-bit. Both are installed on the computer.
If the checkbox titled Open in 32-bit mode is an option,
1. Select the Open in 32-bit mode checkbox to open Cubase in 32-bit mode.
2. De-select the Open in 32-bit mode checkbox to open Cubase in 64-bit mode.

Apple Logic Pro

Logic Pro X or higher is 64-bit only.

In Logic 9 or lower, when Logic is installed, both the 32-bit and the 64-bit version of the DAW is included in the installation. Prior to opening the program, the user can indicate which version should be opened.

To first determine which mode Logic is currently opened in, follow the steps suggested below:

Open Logic Pro.
Once Logic is opened, go to Logic Pro > About Logic Pro. In the following window, next to the version number, Logic will indicate which version is currently open.

Change version of Logic

Close Logic Pro.
Go to the Applications folder and click once on the Logic Pro application to select it.

Next, choose File > Get Info. In the window that appears, do one of the following:

Select the Open in 32-bit mode checkbox to open Logic Pro in 32-bit mode.
De-select the Open in 32-bit mode checkbox to open Logic Pro in 64-bit mode.

PreSonus Studio One

Studio One 4 or higher is 64-bit only.

In Studio One prior to version 4,

Open PreSonus Studio One.
Choose Help > About Studio One (Windows) or Studio One > About Studio One (Mac)
In the window that opens, next to the version number, it will show whether it is 32-bit or 64-bit.
- If it shows x64, then the 64-bit version is currently installed.
- If it shows x86, then the 32-bit version is currently installed.

Ableton Live

If the version of Ableton Live is pre-version 8.4, it is a 32-bit installation. Live 10 and higher are 64-bit only.

Open Ableton Live.
Choose Help > About Live (Windows) or Live > About Live (Mac)
In the window that opens, if the version of Ableton Live is between 8.4 and 10, the About Live splash screen will show both the version number as well as whether it is a 32-bit or 64-bit installation.

Cockos Reaper

Cockos Reaper offers the choice to install either the 32-bit or the 64-bit version of the DAW.

Open Reaper.
Locate the Title bar in the main Reaper window. Next to the version number,
1. If there is a /64 suffix (OSX) or a /x64 suffix (Windows) after the version number, then the current installation is 64-bit.
2. If there is no suffix after the version number (as in the screenshot below), then the current installation is 32-bit.

Other DAWs

Please refer to the vendor of your DAW to find out whether or not it is a 64-bit version.
