This isn’t just the best “instant vibe” channel strip at Plugin Alliance. It’s the best “instant vibe” plugin I’ve ever used (and I’ve used a lot of them). It’s just one of those plugins that really, truly, actually makes anything running through it sound like it’s going through a piece of (very well maintained) vintage analog gear. If you passed on this because of a lack of features (just High & Low pass filters and rudimentary compressor), demo it. You’ll be floored. I’m using more instances of this plugin than any other plug I own (and I own a lot) and my mixing sessions are just easier with this thing engaged. It just makes stuff sound like it was mixed at Sound City in the 70’s.

When I am working on a track and I get the sense there is a slight harshness I use this. The emulation is second to none, you find yourself eternally grateful for the prowess of German engineering! This is the type of gear you would read about in Sound on Sound being used by a top notch producer. This, the TE-100 EQ and the 80 series are standard in my tracking. Incredible.

Love it so far - I'm still getting to know the compressor but the range of sounds you can get out of this is really amazing. Aside from the normal saturation, the fact that you can turn the broadcast filter on and off, the multiple low cuts, and the 3 khz high cut mean there is a multitude of ways you can get a track to sit nicely before you even have to approach EQ. The first thing I had tried this on was guitar and it was amazing how easy it was to give the guitar a great tone, roll off some harshness and boom, and just get it to sit perfectly with no crazy frequencies jumping out. That won me over instantly. Really delicious on vocals. So far my experiments with the compressor section have helped vocals to sound huge and sit nice in the track. I'm normally not one for "preamp" simulations but this plug has knocked it out of the park - no joke. The sound is amazing and the compressor section has worked fantastic. I know it's not a console channel but this is something I wouldn't mind sticking on every track. Give it a demo and tell me if I'm lying! Highly recommended.
